Q:The new assassins creed is getting a female assassin. I love to see companies pandering to feminists who actually don't play video games.
People who actually play video games don’t give a shit about the character’s race, gender, sexuality, etc. Diversity is something that should be encouraged, but not demanded. That’s what Gone Home did entirely wrong. “hurr the sister’s a lesbian hurrr” But really, who gives a shit? There’s no depth to that character other than that she’s gay. It only got GOTY because SJWs run all the gaming journalism websites.
I don’t enjoy the Assassin’s Creed series, but my female friends who do don’t care about the gender of their character. They’re using an escapist medium: they are that character. That is the key characteristic that so many don’t understand. InuitInua has a great YouTube video talking about this, where she states “video games aren’t real life, why act like they are? If I’m playing a game, I’m invested into that character. It’s not like movies or TV where it’s some schmo doing whatever and I’m along for the ride. I am that schmo doing whatever.”
I’ve heard the argument of Ubisoft making it an RPG format like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout, so people can choose their gender. But Assassin’s Creed isn’t an RPG. It tells a linear story every game. They make millions, so why reinvent the wheel?
Now personally I’m not a big fan of the Generic White Male Protagonist for the most part, but this is Ubisoft. A triple-A company is the wrong place to look for unique, diverse games. That’s why the same sports games get rehashed every year; they care about making a profit, so they make what’s profitable. Now obviously not all triple-A companies are this bad (Valve has some not-in-your-face diversity with Portal, Left 4 Dead, even DOTA for God’s sakes,) but they are companies after all. If something could possibly lose money for them, they usually won’t take that risk.
There are tons of awesome indie games that have interesting characters beyond some 2D cutout, but they get glanced over by radfems. Do you know why? Because they don’t actually give a shit about video games. Their opinions should easily be discarded, but triple-A companies who want to risk bad PR will pander. It’s the sad, sad truth. EA did the same by bringing Anita Sarkeesian into the development of Mirror’s Edge 2, and now Ubisoft is doing the same.
God help us all.
Feminists should make their own videogames with female characters instead of demanding other companies to do it.
This is good but Ubisoft doesn’t follow the generic white male protagonist road in the AC franchise.
Connor Kenway was Native American and British
Aveline was a female and African and French
Adewale is Trinadian
Altair was Syrian
And they have a series called child of light which features a female protagonist.
they should do more about connor
Yes! I loved Connor but the community that just loves diversity *sarcasm* hated him. Thy said he was boring and not like Ezio and so on.
Even though they’ll turn around and label Ezio a generic white male and the point of a new protagonist is to be different. Not to mention with Connor’s upbringing and adapting to a world he wasn’t familiar with he would act exactly as they wrote him.
I’m not even an AC fan but since I can’t fucking stand this bullshit, I’m reblogging.
drake & josh
- season 1: drake helps josh w/ a crush
- season 4: drake & josh accidentally sell an orangutan to a man who eats orangutans
This is actually pissing me off. It has begun to ruin halloween for me knowing people don’t spell check. Things are massed produced in factories and sent out for sale to the public spelt spoopy, doo, and creppy. Like what the actual fuck. My computer even automatically changes spoopy to spooky. I mean, come on. The best holiday season and businesses don’t even care enough about it to spell check the items they’re gonna sell. Fuck this shit.
come on buddy wheres your smngfiehp cheer
You fucking swapped the m and the n…

So, I didn’t know that the Grumps were doing a signing until Thursday, when I was already in San Diego… and if I had known I would’ve gotten something printed for them or done a digital thing for them to sign… but I only really had my sketchbook and I was afraid of inking it ‘cause something usually goes wrong when I ink things.
I ended up doodling this thing instead and I got everyone’s signatures! Danny just so happened to stop by the Polaris stage a little before the show, so I was able to meet him… and Arin almost signed in the wrong spot, but yeah! It was super cool being able to meet everyone!
Also Ross wanted me to tweet this to him, but I don’t have a Twitter and I know he has a Tumblr, so maybe he’ll see this????
